Summer!

Hey everyone,
Its Daniella and Anthony, We are really glad that all of you enjoyed your summer! Our summer just began. Tomorrow is our last day of 10th grade, and soon we will be 11th graders!

This summer, I (Daniella), am going to Costa Rica for 3 weeks and I’m going to visit my family. I’m really excited to go because I have not been there in about 2 years when my family used to go every summer. I also got a job, I work at Dairy Queen now (An ice cream store) so my summer is going to be busy with me working and making money to save for a car. I’m excited to go swimming and hangout with my friends and boyfriend this summer, What are you most excited for in this coming school year?

This summer Anthony is playing American Football for his high school and is attending camps. This summer I am trying to obtain a job to pay for my athletic training and to hopefully save up for a car. This summer I will also be hanging out with friends and my girlfriend before she goes off to Ecuador.

Summer Time

Our summer vacation is just beginning and we’re very excited to be out of school. This summer we are both planning on travelling a little and relaxing. Recently we had a school dance and Josh and I (Myah), went with a group of friends and we had a great time! I hope you had a great summer holiday! FullSizeRender (1)

This is a picture from a trip our school’s theater program took to New York (I’m on the left). We go to see a Broadway show every year this year our production of Tarzan went to see Something Rotten. Now that it’s summer I will start work again soon. I work at the Elmwood Park Zoo which is very close. In the summer we get giraffes so I get to do giraffe feedings as a part of my job. We also got new Jaguars and red pandas, I am so excited. I plan to watch a lot of Netflix and go on adventures with my friends this summer. My family is taking a trip to Rehoboth beach for my brother’s baseball tournament. It’s going to be a great summer.

Summer is here!!!

Greetings friends! Summer is finally here, we just finished or 10th grade year of high school and have some great plans for the summer! This summer, Corry plans to play a lot of sports and go to Boston this summer, sounds fun. Michael Gould would like to get both his pilot and drivers, and would also like to get his wisdom teeth removed. And I, CJ, plan on visiting Hilton Head Island, South Carolina to have some fun, in addition, I’d like to do some weight lifting if I can. What do you guys commonly do during the summer in India?

From,
CJ, Corry, Michael

Hi from Karan

Karan

In my summer holidays I went to my village. I was there for a month and enjoyed playing with my cousins. We did a lot of exciting things like riding a bike, swimming and watch a lot of cricket matches on the tv. I also went to a place called Pune for ten days. There I went to many temples and prayed. Pune has a lot of gardens …I had an amazing summer vacation.

I have also bleached my hair and got a new hair cut. What do you think?

After a super holiday, I am back to Mumbai and studies as I have to give board exams next year.

Summer is Here :)

Hey, it has been a long time since I last posted. I am very happy because I just completed my class 10.

Friends, I have read your post and I must say that you all are very interactive. I would also like to share about my daily life with you all.

As we are having our summer vacations, everyday is exciting for us. I wake up late and I go to play cricket, which is my favorite sport. In fact I am preparing for an inter school cricket championship. I also watch a lot of tv and I sleep a lot. In the evening I go for computer classes because I need to learn how to use one. Unlike other students who go to college to study for their 11th and 12th grade, I am going to be continuing my studies in my school only. I am very excited for my new academic year.

I would like to thank the AVID kids—It is because of you guys I am able to learn how to operate a computer.

Goodbye everyone, I hope to hear from you soon,

Umesh

Hi Everyone!

(Above is a picture of our book club. We went of a bike ride one day.)

I met Noopur Didi and her sister last December when she had come to Mumbai. I live in a community.

I spend my day very cheerfully. I do all the housework and fill water as we don’t get water from a tap in our house. I chit chat with my neighbours. I love playing with kids. Do you like kids? I just love them. In my neighborhood there are a lot of babies. You can’t imagine how cute and naughty they are.

Now,enough about kids.would you like to know about my likes? In India people are crazy about filmstars and a game called cricket. I admire Salman Khan ,a dashing and handsome filmstar. Who is your favorite actor? Do you know who is my favorite cricketeer? He is Rohit Sharma . He is hardworking and very passionate about cricket. Just to let you know that IPL, just got over. It is a cricket tournament which is held every year during April and May. Mumbai Indians won the final this year. Guess who was the captain of this team? None other than Rohit Sharma! Yeah! All the kids from Akanksha were invited to watch one live match in the Wankhede Stadium . The owner of the Mumbai Indian team, Mrs Nita Ambani invited us. What big summer sports do you all follow?

I hope you all are enjoying pav bhaji . There is another Indian snack which i really like. It is called pani puri . I cant survive without it! I have it daily while going home from the centre.

This year I gave my class 10 board exams. It was tough because I have studied in a school only till class 4….the exams were tough, but I do love the challenge. So, keeping my fingers crossed for my results. I hope they are good. I will definitely let you know. I am determined to step into a college and fulfill Ushma Didi’s dream because it is with her motivation and help which has gotten me here today.

Bye and talk soon,
Reshma

Quick Update From Home! :)

Hey Guys! :),

It’s Lauren Q here (I have to give you my last initial since there’s another Lauren in our class now too haha)! Sadly, I’m writing this from my house and not in the classroom, since on Sunday I got sick with food poisoning, and I’ve been out sick for a couple days. But, I still have lots to catch you all up on!

That picture you see above is of me and one of our other classmates Josh at a bowling party for another classmate of ours, Myah! It was her birthday a little while ago, and a bunch of her friends got together to bowl, ourselves included! I’m not sure if you guys have bowling or not, but just in case, I’ll explain it. Bowling is a game where you take a special bowling ball at whatever weight you need and roll it down a long wooden board, trying to knock over pins at the other end.

Recently at school, we celebrated Valentines Day! Valentines Day is on February 14th, and is a day to celebrate somebody you love or are attracted to. People usually celebrate with a boyfriend, girlfriend or spouse, but it’s not uncommon to give gifts to family and friends, too! At our school, we have a program called “Cupids Cuties”, where you can write somebody a note, buy them a rose, or multiple roses, and they will be delivered throughout the day by one of the schools “Cupids Cuties” and their escorts, who are senior boys and senior girls.

How is everything going over there? I hope the weather is better, I felt bad when I read your post about the rain! Noopur had a lot of great stuff to tell us about her trip to visit you all, and we loved seeing the pictures of you guys!

Hope to hear from you soon!
– Lauren Q.

Nashta

Hi guys! How have you been? We have a few new group members! Lauren C is one of the them. She is very excited to try pav bhajii and experience making it with the class. Aside from cooking we have been having a very cold winter. So far the temperature has been in the low teens to high 20’s. Alexa promised to teach Ali how to ice skate but Ali isn’t very good. They’re still working on it. Spring sports starts soon though. Julianna got a new puppy named Maks and went to New York City. We hope to hear from you soon!
